DO I NEED TO HAVE A HIGH SCHOOL DIPLOMA OR GED TO APPLY?

To apply for first year - no. However, you will not be eligible to receive college credit or enroll in a second year until you’ve earned your diploma or GED. Students without such accreditation will be placed on academic probation upon admission and must maintain a GPA greater than 2.0 for the entire year. Some students choose to complete their GED while simultaneously enrolled in their first year at CCBC.

To apply for second year and earn an Associate of Theology - yes. Official, sealed transcripts are required by our admissions office as part of the application process.

IS CALIFORNIA COAST BIBLE COLLEGE ACCREDITED?

California Coast Bible College serves under the leadership of the governing body of elders of City Church California. This unique relationship between the college and the local church has been the basis for its strength and effectiveness. Currently the appropriate federal accrediting associations do not make sufficient provision for local church governed colleges, thus CCBC has not been able to pursue accreditation. It is, however, committed to instructional and academic excellence and thus enjoys many of the benefits of accredited colleges.

DEGREE-GRANTING STATUS: CCBC has been granted exempt status by the State of California to offer a theological ministry degree at the associate level. Currently, the school offers an Associate of Theology degree for students who successfully complete two years of study. The California Department of Education has determined that California Coast Bible College qualifies for religious exempt status from the Degree-Granting Institutions Act for the Associate of Theology (A.Th.) degree. The CDE makes no evaluation of the administration, faculty, business practices, financial condition or quality of the offerings by this institution.

CAN I TRANSFER CREDITS from another institution TO CCBC?

Course transfers to CCBC are evaluated on a case-by-case basis. We are not a federally accredited college, but we are a degree-granting institution so we do issue official transcripts for completed courses and degrees.

CAN I TRANSFER MY CCBC credits TO ANOTHER INSTITUTION?

Degree and credit transfer to other colleges is not guaranteed as it is at the discretion of each individual college. Students are responsible to determine transfer credibility of the institution to which they plan to transfer. Historically, our students who’ve desired to pursue a Bachelor’s Degree have found the most success when transferring CCBC credits to Portland Bible College.
